There are lots of ways to use an herb bundle depending upon your tradition. Here is one: first open a window and set your intention for cleansing your space. Light the tip of the bundle for 10-20 seconds, then gently blow out the flame so the end smolders and produces smoke.
Use the abalone shell (or a fireproof bowl) to catch any ash and slowly walk through your space, guiding the smoke into corners, over doorways, and around any objects or people you wish to cleanse. When finished, extinguish the ember by pressing it into the fireproof bowl or a fire-safe container until it is completely out. Light and use responsibly. Ensure stick is fully extinguished.
